GIANT SYRIAN

Uncertain origin. Pink fruit weighing 250 to 500 grams, beefsteak-like, sometimes heart-shaped but usually flattened.

SKU: 2401 Category:

Variety not fully traceable, seed obtained from Charlotte Mullens of West Virginia, but not sure of its origin. Recorded in the 1991 Seed Saver Yearbook by Craig LeHouillier, described as red and heart-shaped, but now described as a pink beefsteak! There are probably several strains in circulation as apart from Tomatofest who describes it as red and heart-shaped all other sources describe it as beefsteak and pink. And to add a little more confusion it exists with both foliage varieties: potato and regular, the latter being the standard.

Pink fruit weighing 250-500 grams, sometimes heart-shaped but more often flattened, heavily ribbed at the top and with rounded shoulders.

Dense and juicy beefy flesh with very few seeds. Well-balanced, fragrant flavour, both sweet and slightly acidic.

Not very vigorous looking plant with small stems but great development, regular foliage, indeterminate growth.

Good mid-season production +/- 80 days.
