Very old heirloom variety of the Zapotec Indians from the region of Oaxaca in Mexico.

Purple-pink fruit from 100 to 250 grams, variable shape, pear-pear-flattened, but always deeply ribbed/fluted. Clusters of 5/6 fruits with a very deep peduncular attachment, flower with 7 sepals.

Fruit inside mostly hollow around the edge, flesh is red multi-located and mealy in the center. Very average flavor, to use for stuffing or cooking, guaranteed decorative effect cut in a slice in a salad.
