VORLON

USA origin. Fruit of 250 to 500 grams of flattened beefsteak type and with ribbed and rounded shoulders. Purple-pink color.

SKU: 1607 Categories: ,

A recent variety, 1998, the result of an accidental cross between "Cherokee Purple" and "Pruden's Purple" which appeared in the garden of Joe Fisher, Maine, USA. Featured in the 1999 Seed Savers Yearbook. Named after an alien race from a science fiction soap opera of the time.

Large, flattened, beefsteak-like fruit weighing 250 to 500 grams, with rounded, ribbed shoulders.

Purple-pink color with dark-green shoulders. Meaty, dense beef flesh. Excellent rich, smoky flavor.

Medium-sized, potato-leaved plant, indeterminate growth.

Regular and generous mid-season production.

There is still some doubt as to its authenticity, as Baker Creek claims that this variety is a Bulgarian heirloom. The Tomatoville debate was launched at the time, but this is highly unlikely.
