TRIOMPHE DE LIEGE

Belgian heirloom. Bright red fruit of 90 to 150 grams, round, slightly flattened and less ribbed at the shoulders.

SKU: 1420 Category:

Old heirloom variety developed and presented by Victor Strap in 1903, offered to the Seed Savers Yearbook of 2006 by Alain Letroye, Belgium.

Synonyms: Triomphe de Liège, Sieger von Luttich.

Bright red fruit of 90 to 150 grams, round, slightly flattened and more or less ribbed at the shoulders, these last ones can be "ruffled". It is quite common to have on the same cluster perfectly round fruits and others flattened and ribbed. Clusters of 2 to 4 units.

Very dense and not very juicy flesh. Good flavor of old tomato, without being exceptional. To be reserved for the confection of sauce and coulis.

Unfortunate tendency to circular cracking and/or bursting, probably due to its thin skin. Can adapt well to humid climatic conditions and is rather resistant to diseases.
