SICILIAN SAUCER
Italian origin. Very large, bright red, beefsteak-like fruit weighing 300 to 1 kg or more.
A heirloom variety of Italian origin, grown in Sicily, passed on by Mr. Cook, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The seed was passed on to him by his neighbour, a Sicilian whose family had been growing it for generations. Featured in the 2008 Seed Savers Yearbook.
Very large, bright red, flattened beefsteak-like fruit weighing 300 grams to a kilo or more, ribbed or ribbed over much of the body and with more or less curved shoulders that can make the fruit misshapen when large.
Dense, juicy, multi-located beef flesh with few seeds. Delicious flavour. Can be used for many purposes: salad, cooking, coulis.
High yield.
