A heirloom variety from Poland, brought to the US by an immigrant family in the late 1890s. Listed in the 2003 Seed Savers Yearbook.

Red fruit weighing 200 to 300 grams and measuring +/- 15 cm in length and +/- 6 cm in diameter, elongated and fleshy, ending at the apical end in a nipple.

Firm paste-like flesh with little gel and seeds. Mild, sweet flavour, good for eating fresh, but it is in a sauce or coulis that it will express all its qualities.

The plant has a large development and regular, wispy foliage.

Good to very good production from the second half of the season until frost. The fruit ripens in waves.
