A very popular and emblematic variety of the Spanish Basque Country, originating from the village of Araxtabaleta.
Synonyms: Morado de Araxtabaleta, Aretxabaletako moskorra, Borracho de Aretxabaleta.
Fruit weighing 200 to 300 grams, sometimes more, slightly flattened and with discreetly ribbed shoulders.
Pinkish-purple with yellowish-green shoulders.
Very fleshy and juicy flesh. Excellent old-fashioned tomato flavour. Good productivity.
NB: Morado means "purplish", it is a generic term, there are several varieties with this name and their origins specified (Morado de Fitera, Morado del Oria, Morado de Cuevas de San Marcos etc...)
