Originally from the USA. An heirloom from Barbara Fath's family. Her mother-in-law, Madeline Marlowe, grew it for over 50 years in West Virginia, then her daughter-in-law in Ohio for 30 years. Featured in the 1995 Seed Savers Yearbook.
Large, pink, beefsteak-like fruit weighing 250 to 500 grams, flattened, ribbed at the top and with wavy shoulders. Medium depression at stem attachment.
Very dense, fleshy beef flesh with a creamy texture. Excellent mild, sweet flavor.
Extensive development, regular foliage, indeterminate growth.
Good production until frost.
There is a variety in circulation with regular foliage and purple fruit that does not conform, the real one is pink with potato foliage.
