SKU: 1623 Category:

Old heirloom, already mentioned in 1890, from Alabama, USA. Reportedly named after the Confederate leader during the Civil War: Jefferson Davis. Featured in the 1991 Seed Savers Yearbook.

Large purple-pink fruit with greenish shoulders, 300-500 grams. Beef steak type, round, more or less flattened and ribbed at the top. Deep and wide depression at the peduncular attachment.

Fleshy, juicy beef flesh with a creamy texture. Multi-logged with few seeds. Mild, sweet flavour. Should be eaten quickly once picked as the fruit does not keep well.

A potato-leaved variety, well adapted to the warm climate and good production in the second half of the season.
