Originally from Italy, the seeds were brought to the US in the 1950s by Gildo Pietroboni, an Italian immigrant whose son shared the seeds with Pennsylvania tomato enthusiasts, some of whom were members of the ESS. Submitted to the 2011 Seed Savers Yearbook by Neil Gillard, Ontario, Canada.
Large fruit, 200-500+ grams, bright red, more or less heart-shaped, with rippled and wrinkled shoulders.
Fleshy and firm but juicy, with few seeds. Extremely sweet flavour. An exceptional tomato!
Foliage is very wispy like all heart-shaped varieties.
