There is a lot of conflicting information about this variety, which is said to be unstable. From a spontaneous mutation in a Pruden's purple crop. Presented in the 2005 Seed Savers Yearbook by Doroty Beinswenger, without specifying the type of leaves. It is named after the Flathead River in Montana.
