An heirloom variety from southern Sicily, rediscovered some twenty years ago, it is a member of the "Santa" family, the best-known of which is the "Santasian".

Small, date-shaped red cherry fruits weighing 15 to 30 grams, arranged in huge bunches.

Mainly used in sauces and pastes, due to its high sugar content.

It also contains a high level of Lycopine, which is said to have anti-carcinogenic properties.

Multiflora in appearance with huge bunches, bushy plant habit, sparse regular foliage, indeterminate growth.

Abundant, regular production from mid-season, lasting until the frosts.

A hybrid variety with the same characteristics is said to be in circulation, called "Salentino/SaporeF1".
