A very old variety already recorded in the 1850s in the USA.
Its translation is "bull's nose" because of the indentation (notch) at the apical end reminiscent of a bull's nose.
Fruit is a lobed cubic block 8 to 12 cm long and 7 to 10 cm long.
Ripens from green to scarlet.
Crunchy, thick-walled flesh. High sugar content when fully ripe. The placenta can sometimes be slightly spicy.
Bushy, large-leaved plant, about 60 cm high.
Produces from mid-season to frost.
nb: there is a modern version of this cultivar with different characteristics: longer and more lobed.
