Heirloom variety native to the former USSR, developed by the Research Institute of Vavilov in Siberia. Presented to the Seed Savers Yearbook of 1998. Its translation from Russian can give "Yellow from Byisk".

Also referenced under the following names: Bijskij Zeltyi - Biisky Zhelty - Бийский Жёлтый.

Large orange-yellow fruit with more or less green shoulders, beefsteak-like 200-500 grams and +/- 8 cm in diameter. Round shape very slightly flattened hint of ribbing at the top as well as a very slight waving at the shoulders. Average depression at the peduncular attachment.

Full and juicy yellowish flesh, very good flavor rather 'sweet and sour'.

Fairly compact plant not exceeding 1.10 m and good productivity.

Variety well adapted to short summer and/or cool season climate.
